My friend David Fenster, a wonderful filmmaker, has helped to organize a series of events called Fungifest 2010 around LA. It sounds pretty glorious if you are even just a casual an admirer of fungi. Opening night is a week from today, on Saturday, January 16th at 8pm. The events move over to the Hammer Museum on Thursday the 21st, then back to Machine on Saturday the 23rd. A full list of events with dates and times is here. People are encouraged to bring in any mushrooms they find to the events as Bob Cummings, a mycologist, will be on hand to aid in identification. He will answer any questions we can come up with, and will generally drop mushroom knowledge.
