Please support the IPRC through the Give!Guide
Hey everybody! It's Give!Guide season and the IPRC could really use
your support. I have been volunteering at this magical Independent
Publishing Resource Center for years and it is a rare and beautiful
non-profit that is largely fueled by volunteers, donations, and the
support of its members. Anything you can give would be a tremendous
help to us, but if you give $50 or more you will also get a year long
membership to the IPRC plus fancy incentives from the Give!Guide like Stumptown Coffee.
To find out more about the IPRC visit the site:

and to offer your support to the IPRC please visit:

Show at the Henry Art Gallery
O where the paintings will go! In the great year of 2000 I made some paintings that were shown at New Image Art Gallery in West Hollywood and sold to this powerful TV executive and art collector. A few years ago this Mr. Valentine donated these paintings to the Henry Art Gallery in Seattle and they are now part of their permanent collection. Last week I got this email that one of the paintings has been included in this show:
"Your work Untitled (business seminar), which is part of the Henry Art Gallery’s permanent collection, is currently on display at the Henry in the exhibition SuttonBeresCuller: Panoptos. The exhibition will run from October 2, 2010-February 13, 2011.
For this exhibition the artists, John Sutton, Ben Beres, and Zac Culler, selected over 150 two-dimensional and three-dimensional works from the museum’s collection that were then hung “salon style,” in the museum’s East Gallery. In front of this multi-faceted presentation, the artists’ installed a custom-made apparatus that transports a high definition camera along the x- and y-axes of this grid-like installation. In an adjacent gallery, visitors can steer the camera remotely, selecting and zooming in on details of works in the installation. These details are viewed in this space and uploaded to the Web for others to see. Images from the exhibition can be viewed here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/henryartgallery/. "
How about that?
This painting is so old I don't even know where I have pictures of it! There are a couple of pictures of it HERE on their Flickr stream.

Look out for this thing at a newsstand near you! I just heard from good ol' T-dog up in Seattle that it is out and on the shelves. He is an eye witness. I made this cover artwork and also did some spot illustrations inside of there.... I haven't seen it yet myself. I can't wait to read Justin Hocking's story!

FUNDRAISER FOR THE FLORESTINE COLLECTION: 8 pm, Saturday, April 24. Helen Hill was an experimental filmmaker and film teacher who made many fun, inspiring, and original short films. At the time of her murder in New Orleans in January 2007, Helen was working on The Florestine Collection, a thirty-minute animation and live action documentary about 100 hand-sewn dresses she found in the trash on the side of the road. Her husband Paul Gailiunas decided to finish the movie as a 16 mm film and needs to raise funds for the last steps in the filmmaking process. Please join us to see a fifteen-minute preview of The Florestine Collection, as well as other short experimental films by Helen and several of her filmmaking friends. Copies of a DVD compilation of Helen's films will be on sale. Kids are welcome!

Landscape Altered Episode 1 is up!
I had a really great time at NOVA! Thanks to everybody who came to my workshop. NOVA is a really inspiring school. What lucky rascals! While I was up in Seattle, I had the great honor of making 3 collaborative flipbooks with 2 of my favorite humans, Stefan Gruber and Tim Miller. The trilogy is called EYE OPENERS and hopefully will be printed in time for Stumptown Comicfest. They are wild eye rides.
HERE is the first episode of Kai's fabulous new Landscape Altered series.. for which I made some animated titles:

This week!
April 1st
I made 2 BIG paintings for the IPRC's new conference room. We are going to have an unveiling on first Thursday at 6pm. Maybe there will be snacks! I am also gonna bring a copy of Dear & Yonder down there and we are going to have a mini screening at 8pm. Karl Lind is generously bringing his projector over there to show it with. If you haven't seen it already, it is a really inspiring documentary about some amazing women in the surfing community past and present.
